Fading Away – “The Greatest Generation”

A great American by the name of Fred Hargesheimer passed away two days before Christmas.  A more comprehensive account of his experiences is found here at USA Today.

Every day, nearly 1,000 World War II veterans pass away.  The average age of those still alive is 86 years old.

Someday, we’re going to wake up and wish we would have spent more time talking and getting to know the World War II veterans still currently among us.

If you know of any, take the time to talk to them.  If you don’t know any, get to know some.  Many are fading away, slowly losing their minds and bodies in the countless nursing homes throughout America.

At least then you’ll be able to tell your kids someday about the time you met and got to know someone who fought and survived the greatest conflict our world has ever endured.  Maybe you’ll also have learned something about America and yourself along the way.
